1. Agreement to Terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) constitute a legally binding agreement between you and International Islamic University of America (“IIU,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), a nonprofit educational institution incorporated in the State of New Jersey (EIN 99-3479881), with offices at 232 E Front St, Plainfield, NJ 07060.
By accessing our website (uislamic.org), our Learning Management System (learn.uislamic.org), our Student Information System (sis.uislamic.org), or by submitting an application for admission, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use our services.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years of age to use IIU’s services or apply for admission. By using our platforms or submitting an application, you represent that you meet this requirement and that all information you provide is accurate and complete.
3. Application and Admission
A. Application Requirements
To apply for admission, applicants must submit:
- Previous qualification certificate
- Transcript of grades
- Copy of ID card, national identification, or passport
- Recent personal photograph
- Experience certificate or letter of recommendation (for applicants with a grade of “Pass”)
- For Master’s applicants: minimum grade of Good in Bachelor’s degree, or a grade of Acceptable with a certificate of advocacy or one year of teaching experience
- For PhD applicants: all of the above, plus a Master’s degree certificate from a recognized university and a copy of the Master’s thesis (for non-graduates of IIU)
Original documents must be scanned and submitted to IIU by email prior to enrollment.
B. Application Fee
A non-refundable application fee is required for certain programs at the time of submission. This fee is processed through Stripe, Inc. and is not refundable under any circumstances, including withdrawal, denial of admission, or program cancellation by the applicant.
C. Admission Decision
Submission of an application does not guarantee admission. IIU reserves the right to accept or deny any application at its sole discretion.
4. Tuition, Fees, and Payment
A. Tuition Fees
Tuition rates are published on the IIU website at uislamic.org. Rates are subject to change. Any rate change will be communicated to enrolled students prior to the start of the affected semester.
B. Installment Plans
Students may pay tuition using an installment plan. If the amount paid in installments is less than the applicable refund amount at the time of withdrawal, the student is obligated to pay the remaining balance owed.
C. Payment Processing
Payments are processed securely through Stripe, Inc. IIU does not store credit card or payment card data on its servers.
5. Refund Policy
A. Full Refund
Students are entitled to a full refund of all tuition fees, minus the non-refundable application fee, if they cancel their enrollment in writing within the first two weeks of the semester. To qualify, the student must withdraw by the end of Sunday of the second week of the semester. The refund will be credited to the student’s account within 30 days of withdrawal.
Formal notice of cancellation may be submitted by email, regular mail, fax, or in person. If submitted by mail, the postmark date is the effective cancellation date.
B. Pro Rata Refund
Students who withdraw after the obligation-free period are eligible for a pro rata refund as follows:

C. Installment Plan and Refund
If a student on an installment plan withdraws between the third and fifth weeks, one-third (1/3) of the total tuition is due. After the start of the sixth week, the full tuition amount is due regardless of payments made to date.
6. Academic Program and Delivery
A. Course Delivery
Study materials are delivered to students via the IIU Learning Management System (Moodle) at learn.uislamic.org or directly to the student’s registered email address. Students communicate with course instructors using electronic means provided by IIU.
B. Examinations
Students may sit for examinations when they are prepared to do so. Results will be communicated to the student shortly after the examination is completed.
C. Certificates and Diplomas
Upon successful completion of a program, IIU will send the student’s certificate or diploma to their registered mailing address via express mail.
D. Research and Thesis
For Master’s and PhD programs, students must propose an acceptable research topic. If a student is unable to propose a topic after multiple attempts, IIU will suggest one. IIU assigns a supervisor to guide the student through the research process. External supervisors are not accepted in order to maintain academic standards and ensure transparency.
7. Academic Integrity
IIU is committed to academic honesty. All work submitted by students must be their own. The following constitute violations of academic integrity:
- Plagiarism: presenting another person’s work, ideas, or words as your own without proper attribution
- Fabrication: falsifying data, citations, or academic records
- Cheating: unauthorized use of materials, assistance, or information during examinations or assessments
- Impersonation: having another person complete work or examinations on your behalf
Violations may result in a failing grade on the assignment, a failing grade in the course, suspension, or dismissal from the program, at IIU’s discretion. IIU reserves the right to use academic integrity detection tools to review submitted work.
8. Student Conduct
Students are expected to conduct themselves with respect, honesty, and professionalism in all interactions with IIU faculty, staff, and fellow students. The following are prohibited:
- Harassing, threatening, or abusing any member of the IIU community
- Posting false, defamatory, or misleading content about IIU or its members
- Disrupting the academic environment through any electronic or other means
- Using IIU platforms for any unlawful purpose
IIU reserves the right to suspend or terminate enrollment for violations of this conduct policy.
9. Acceptable Use of Technology
Access to IIU’s online platforms is provided for educational purposes only. You agree not to:
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any IIU system or another student’s account
- Introduce malware, viruses, or harmful code into any IIU platform
- Scrape, copy, or redistribute course materials without written permission from IIU
- Use automated tools to access or interact with IIU platforms without authorization
IIU reserves the right to suspend or terminate access to its platforms for violations of this section.
10. Intellectual Property
A. IIU Materials
All course materials, lectures, videos, assessments, and other content provided through IIU platforms are the intellectual property of International Islamic University of America or its licensors. Students are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access these materials for personal educational use only. Reproduction, distribution, or commercial use is prohibited without written permission from IIU.
B. Student Work
Students retain ownership of original work they create as part of their studies. By submitting work through IIU platforms, students grant IIU a non-exclusive license to retain and review such work for educational and accreditation purposes.
11. Accreditation Disclosure
International Islamic University of America is a private nonprofit educational institution. IIU is not currently accredited by a U.S. Department of Education-recognized accrediting agency. IIU has initiated the process toward accreditation with the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC). Students are encouraged to verify the acceptability of IIU credentials with employers, licensing bodies, or other academic institutions before enrolling.
12. Disclaimer of Warranties
IIU’s platforms and services are provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. IIU does not warrant that its platforms will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. IIU makes no warranties regarding the accuracy or completeness of any content on its platforms.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, IIU shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, IIU’s platforms or services. IIU’s total liability to you for any claim arising out of these Terms shall not exceed the amount of tuition paid by you in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.
14. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to its conflict of laws provisions. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or your enrollment at IIU shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Union County, New Jersey, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
15. Changes to These Terms
IIU may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to enrolled students by email and posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of IIU’s services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
